Insight Documentary Project

Regardless of our visual capacity, how clearly do we see the world?

A seasoned, yet very short-sighted traveller takes off her glasses before beginning a one year journey through Latin America, in search of a new way to communicate with the world. However, she finds that self-expression does not depend on visual capacity, in an already blurry world.

How it all began

Inspiration for Insight: A Film

Christopher Thomas Wilson, Director-Producer of You Have His Eyes

Christopher once told me, after the success of his debut documentary film You Have His Eyes, that if you have an idea that you believe in, to just go for it. This was three days before picking up my new glasses, and wondering what lessons can be learned from living and travelling without them. I had no idea a documentary film would be the result. Thank you Christopher, I truly believe that people come into our lives for a reason. You have inspired me to take a leap of faith.

Alan Stivelman, Director of Humano

Stivelman's film Humano drew my attention over one year ago as a student of Spanish Language and Indigenous Studies. The film questions many of the thoughts that occupy my mind and I was quickly absorbed by the story as it unfolded. The style of story-telling, striking beauty, and film score are an inspiration for Insight: A Film. Alan, although we have not met in person, I hope that one day we will be able to share our experiences!
